Black Swan

I watched the movie Black Swan yesterday. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It was a psychological thriller starring Natalie Portman as Nina, a ballerina with the lead role in the ballet 'Swan Lake.' The plot stems around Nina searching for her dark side to be able to play both the 'white' and 'black' swan perfectly for the ballet. This search for perfection, paired with a mentally abusive mother, and a sleazy ballet director leads to Nina's psychological breakdown. She begins to have hallucinations, delusions and extreme paranoia. As Nina loses touch with reality the viewer also gets confused with what is real and what is only in Nina's mind. The ending of the movie mimics the ending in the ballet. Although I liked the intertwining of plots from the ballet into the film, I thought the movie went way out of hand with the sexual scenes and was over the top with creepiness. I think it could have told a better story without all of the perversion. Yet, I am still thinking about and analyzing the movie, so maybe it was better than I am giving it credit for.

Camping in the Cairngorms

Himself and I went camping this weekend near Aviemore in the Cairngorms. The Cairngorms are a mountain range in the eastern highlands of Scotland. We began the weekend by watching the Royal Wedding in a pub along the way. In the Cairngorms we went on a couple of hikes, hung out at the campsite and himself went mountain biking. It was a very enjoyable weekend!

Spring is my favorite time of year. I especially love Spring in the UK. There is nothing like the bright, beautiful flowers, green grass, and great weather to make up for the long and dark winters. I took this picture today while I was walking into town through the Meadows. It is also my favorite place to run!

Hike #2 - Clachnaben

Himself and I went on Hike #2 yesterday. It was a 3 mile hike up Clachnaben. Clachnaben is a 589 meter (1,932 ft) hill in Aberdeenshire near Banchory. It was a lot more strenuous than our first hike and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The 'high'light was eating lunch on the peak. It made for a fabulous day out.

My parents left today :( It was super hard to say goodbye at the airport! We had such a nice time together and I hate that it had to end. Here are some highlights from our trip.

Thai Market

I found the best Thai food market very close to where I live. I found it a couple of weeks ago and picked up a few items like their Panang curry paste, jasmine rice, and instant pad thai noodles. AMAZING! Everything I bought was amazing. With the panang curry paste you just add chicken, coconut milk, and peppers and deliciousness is the result! It tastes just like it does at my favorite Thai restaurant at home. It is definitely my new favorite shop!

(That is what I had for dinner tonight- panang curry awesomeness!)

Lost

I lost my purse on Friday night. I think I left it at a pub, and then when I went back to the pub, it wasn't there. So, I filed a police report and then today I got a call that my wallet was turned in. Although I am very thankful for the wallet, I do wish the rest had been turned in as well. Hopefully these items are making one thief very happy. I hope it was well worth it thief! Just know that you ruined my weekend. I hate when I lose things, I feel so out of control. And losing SO many things at once, provided me with a sense of dread all weekend. And even now, that sense of dread has not gone away. A feeling of imminent DOOM. I am trying to put it in perspective.. in a months time, it won't matter. These are just material possessions. At least I'm alive and well... blah blah blah. But at the moment, these statements aren't really helping.

Torey Hayden

I read my first Torey Hayden book in college for one of my Psychology Classes and just recently picked up another one in a local book shop. Torey Hayden is a counselor who focuses on special education, specifically children with emotional and behavioral problems. Usually these children come from abusive families or have suffered extreme trauma. The books focus on the journey Torey Hayden takes with these children through the processes of recovery. Sometimes the child is selectively mute or aggressive or does not function well, and Torey does an amazing job of uncovering the trauma and helping the child move on and recover. If you have any interest in psychology, social work, counseling, or anything like that, I highly recommend a Torey Hayden book, although I must warn you- have a box of tissues handy, as some of the childrens' past experiences are very disturbing, enraging, and sad.

Frustrating Week

Unfortunately my good weekend turned into a frustrating week. It all started when himself was getting ready to leave to head back to Aberdeen and we noticed he had a parking ticket on his car. We were so confused because we filled out the daily parking permits which were placed on the dashboard. Come to find out, the ticket was issued because we filled out one of the boxes wrong. They are so nit-picky, don't they have more important issues to attend to? Honestly! Needless to say, we are going to appeal because that is just ridiculous. Then, on Monday, I left my flat to go swim laps in the nearby pool. When I came back and tried to open my door, my key didn't work. I panicked and rang the buzzer for my neighbors. Luckily, one neighbor was in and he tried to help. The door definitely wasn't opening, so with wet hair and wet clothes I used my neighbors phone to call the landlord. They sent out a locksmith and an hour later I was let into my flat. Apparently, someone had come to fix our broken oven and locked the bottom lock (which I didn't even know we had) and of course, I did not have a key for that lock. Locked out WITH my keys. And, if that wasn't enough, on Wednesday on the bus ride home we encountered an accident and could not get by. The bus had to wait for the road to get cleared which took almost two hours. I would have walked home but I was still six miles away and I did not know the route.
I hope I have reached my quota of annoying incidents for awhile. I don't think I can handle much more!

Good weekend

I've had a fantastic weekend for a variety of reasons. For one, I got to see my favorite artist perform live. Ben Folds played in Glasgow this weekend, and I got tickets for himself's bday. We were on the front row! Check out these pics :)

As if that wasn't enough, then, I got to see the sun this weekend. For most of you, this doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but then again you probably don't live in Scotland, do you? I haven't seen this sun in weeks, and I really am not exaggerating. The sky has been a dull, lifeless gray for so long. "Cloudy with a chance of rain." But, finally this weekend, the sun emerged! It does exist :) It felt like a glimpse of spring and it made my heart happy.
And, to add icing to the cake, himself and I explored King Arthur's seat which used to be a volcano 350 million years ago, but now is a lovely steep hill to climb and get beautiful views of the city. Although I am COMPLETELY out of shape, I still reached the top and look at these views!

So, yes, to say that I had a good weekend is an understatement. The only downside is now back to the daily grind :( Happy Sunday folks!

Weekly concert series

St. Giles Cathedral (the iconic cathedral on the royal mile in Edinburgh) holds a weekly free concert series on Sunday nights. This Sunday I went for the first time with a friend from Uni. Just by chance, the Heriot Watt University Symphony was playing (my school!) It was very enjoyable, and I have to admit, afterwards, I felt very 'cultured.' Classical is definitely not my first choice in musical styles but it was such a delightful evening. And of course, FREE.

True Grit

Last Wednesday himself and I went to see True Grit and I was very impressed! I have not seen a movie this good in a long time. The plot involves a 14 year old farm girl avenging the murder of her father. She hires a well known Marshall and the two set off on an adventure. The banter between the two characters almost makes the movie, but there are some intense scenes that are hard to watch. Overall, I highly recommend!

New author obsession

I have a new author obsession: Nick Hornby! It all started when one of my favorite musicians, Ben Folds paired with Nick Hornby on his latest album, Lonely Avenue. Lonely Avenue is a collaboration of lyrics by Nick Hornby and music by Ben Folds. I loved it so much that I decided to check out Hornby's books. Well, 4 books later, I can't stop reading them! The books are a wonderful escape from all of my PhD reading and I always look forward to going to the charity shops to find more.
So far I've read Slam, Juliet, Naked, How to be Good, and High Fidelity. I highly recommend :)

Georgia on my mind

It is days like today that I wish I could close my eyes, count to three, and be in my parent's house in Georgia. Here are the top 5 reasons why:
1. It is my mom's birthday. I would love to be able to spend the day with her! (Happy Birthday Mom!)
2. The Superbowl is tonight. Although I don't really like American football, I do love watching the Superbowl. Mainly for the commercials, the half-time show, and the array of junk food in surplus.
3. The weather here is horrendous. It wasn't bothering me for a long time, but it is really starting to get to me now. The continual grayness, wetness, and coldness. Spring, please hurry.
4. My three dogs. I miss them like crazy!
5. The comfort of my own bed.
Today, I definitely have Georgia on my mind.

'BUS'tastrophies

I have never had the 'privilege' of being a regular bus-rider before. In the States, I had my own car(those were the days) and when I lived in England I either walked or got the train. Well, this year, I am living in town and my University is about 6 miles outside of town... so, bus it is! I walk about 12 minutes to the bus stop and then take the bus to Uni... which takes about 30 minutes. Not so bad, right? Well, mostly, no. I don't mind. I use this time to listen to my ipod and relax. But today, was another story. I got to my bus stop with 8 minutes to spare (I am an annoyingly early person) and found out that the bus was 10 minutes late... So 18 minutes later I saw the bus approaching. About 10 of us get ready to load. The bus pulls over, stops for about half a second, and then drives past? What? We all look at each other in shock.. and then three of us start a running. ME INCLUDED! I had a meeting to get to. The next bus stop wasn't too far, if the bus catches a red light there is a small chance we could make it! Me, with my back pack, winter boots, and winter coat am running as fast as I can. The two guys ahead of me make it, and luckily, soon after, I do too. Huffing and puffing, I put in my change and say "Single, please" with a look of contempt and disgust. I was fuming! What was he playing at? Needless to say, the bus customer service department got an email from me. That'll show em!

Edinburgh Sightings

Awhile ago, while I was walking down Princes Street (one of the main streets in Edinburgh) I ran into this guy (I assume it was a guy?)

what are you doing Mr. Upside down man with head in bucket? Can you breathe? Do you need assistance? Did you trip and land head first into that bucket? I was speechless. And right next to him there was a donation 'bucket' This man definitely did not have a shortage of buckets! And, if I wasn't a incredibly poor student I might have given him a donation, mainly because I did not want him to kick the bucket. (badoom chhh)

Hopefully I will encounter more interesting sightings... and If I do, they will definitely be a post about it!

This weekend himself and I went to the Glentress trail center in Peebles (about 45 minutes from Edinburgh)and had a nice ride. Sorry my posting has been so dark lately. and sick and twisted. That's the way I like it! No, not really, I have just had a really hard couple of weeks. Bear with me dear readers because I have fun stuff ahead.... like, did I mention I got accepted for a studentship to get my PhD in SCOTLAND. That's right folds SCOTLAND... and that just happens to be where himself lives now! Can you believe it. My stars have aligned. Thank the Lord above! Hallelujah. I am so stinkin excited I almost hyperventilated and died... but that is a post for another day. Thankfully I am still here and will be moving across the pond AGAIN in a couple of months. I am such the pond hopper. Maybe I was a frog in a past life. I kid.

The Hangover

I wish I was talking about the movie, but unfortunately I am talking about my own hangover. A 3 day one to be exact. Now, I try my hardest not to be a slush, but I have been living with my parents now for 4 months and have not had anything to drink more than a beer every other weekend or one margarita on Friday night mexican night with the parentals. Hey, I am trying to get my life in order, no time for partying!, well... this weekend, was a little bit of an exception. My sister invited me to her fun art show (shown in the previous post) and I found out some life-changing news the night before, so I had some CELEBRATING to do. Plus, there were PEOPLE around. FRIENDS!!! People that didn't birth me! (Love you mom) I wore a cute outfit! I felt sassy. I had one too many beers. And by one, I mean, I lost count This was the culprit. I know, I know, I'm not proud. But don't worry, I won't be having one of those in a very long time. Just thinking about one makes me shudder.
But I am not going to lie, I had the time of my life. I even danced!! I met DJ Mahogany. LOVE! I even chatted on the front porch with friends until the wee hours of the morning. I went to bed after 4am. And the next day I PAID for it. and the next day after that I paid for it again, and still now, THREE days later I am still ill. So, did I learn my lesson you ask? No, it was worth every single sick second. Thankfully, I can just now keep down solid foods. whew. thought I wasn't going to make it!

Hope you have something to celebrate this week. (But maybe stay away from the PBR!)

Death by Pollen

The pollen is killing me. LITERALLY. Let me give you some examples... Two weeks ago I went for a run because the sun was shining, flowers were starting to bloom and I LOVE SPRING and being outside. Everything was going great until I came back and started sneezing. Three times in a row. Four. Five. Six... TEN?? FIFTEEN? I couldn't stop. I was miserable. I then got a fever and decided to call it an early night. The next day I was fine and decided that the pollen must have gotten the best of me. Well, today,same story, weather is BEAUTIFUL, I decided to go for a long run and right when I was less than 1/4 mile from my house my throat started closing up. I couldn't get a good breath. I stopped running and thought maybe I was pushing myself too hard so decided to take it easy. My throat was getting tighter and it was harder to breathe. My hands started tingling and I started to see white. I decided maybe I should sit down until I could see clearly. 5 minutes later I was feeling a bit better but still couldn't get a full, deep breath. I slowly walked home, sat down, and drank loads of water. Could this be another pollen attack? I've never reacted this strongly to pollen before, but then again, I've heard we've had some record breaking pollen counts. As I type this my nose is running, head is pounding and sinus pressure is through the roof. All I know is flowers are pretty and all but dang, not that pretty. Pollen- CONTROL YOURSELF! Or I am going to become a hermit until summer, or even fall.

The other day I went for a run (I'm trying to do that a lot more often and now I have a great blog group that I joined for motivation, In it to Gym it!) and I heard the song Insomnia by Faithless. Haven't heard it? You better LISTEN.

Anyways, I love this song. It makes me feel like wonder woman. Anytime it plays on my ipod when I am running ( I put my ipod on shuffle.. I LOVE surprises :) ) I always end up running faster and then I start thinking about the first time I heard the song.... I was in Guildford, England during my year abroad at Surrey University, in spinning class (think stationary bike with disco lights and fun music and intense workouts) with spandex Matt. Spandex Matt was my favorite spinning teacher because he was insanely cute, wore spandex (which is usually a no for me, but with Matt, it was a yes!) and always played the faithless, insomnia song.

I just wanted to share that with ya. Mainly the song... but also spandex Matt...(sigh)

I just finished reading this psychological thriller by Tana French. Although I am not usually one for murder mysteries, I had a hard time putting this "whodunit?" down. One night I even stayed up until 3am engrossed in the plot! Unfortunately, the ending left me disappointed and the book dragged on in spots. But overall, a pretty good read. 3/5 stars.

four letter word

I finally did it. The four letter word that I always promised myself I wouldn't do. I was above it. I rebelled against it. I wanted to be young and free to make my own decisions. But I couldn't stand it any longer. I did not have another choice. It was my last option and I had to take it. I just had to..... to....

Diet.

(insert screaming here)

I've never been friends with this four letter word. Dieting never seemed to work for me. I would always try and do okay for a couple of weeks and then find myself in the corner of my kitchen stuffing twinkies in my mouth (don't judge!)
I would rather exercise my tail off than regulate my eating habits. I'm the girl that loves chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast! But, the day had come. I hated looking in the mirror. Shopping was out of the question, and my body had morphed into something that I despised. I was tired of complaining about it, so I decided, why not, I am going to diet! And for real this time. I have been calorie counting for 6 weeks now and writing down every damn thing that I eat. I have been running and walking my dogs at least 3-4 times a week and guess what.....

It works! That little four letter word really works! (when you don't cheat and inhale twinkies when no one is watching!)

I have lost 16 pounds. I can't believe it. Now I am going to try and stay motivated and keep going! Dieting is not that bad. (I guess :) )

So, on the rare occasion that I want to be a male (is that a weird way to start a sentence?) it is normally for two reasons 1) I would like the OPTION of growing a beard. I get tired of looking the same day in and day out. I've always been jealous of the option males get to grow something on their FACE 2) I usually want to be a male on a monthly basis. Normally around the 10th or 11th. Don't make me spell it out for ya.

And this little graphic depiction made me covet 'maledom' even more. I not only want to grow facial hair, but I would like to look like a mongolian warlord. Why is life so unfair?

To say this movie "pulls on your heartstrings" would be the understatement of the century. 'Precious' is intense, emotional, and powerful. Can't stop thinking about it. The saddest and most provocative movie I have seen in a long time. Highly recommend it, but keep a box of tissues handy. Maybe two.

Jury Duty

About a month ago I got summoned for jury duty. Most people avoid jury duty like the plague and think of every excuse in the book to try and get out of it.
See what I mean!

But me on the other hand... I was sort of excited about jury duty. I've been looking forward to it for a month now. The main reason was I heard you made $25 a day. I know this sounds like nothing to most folks, but I just got rejected from a temp job at a chicken plant. $25 a day was looking pretty good. Also, I've never been a part of a jury before and it sounded better than sitting at home applying for jobs and writing a Phd proposal. So, Monday morning after driving 10 hours back from seeing my cute little nephew I made my way to the courthouse. Little did I know that I was going to be joined by 100 others who were in my same position. I was in shock when the judge said that she needed two juries for the week. Only 24 out of 100 of us were going to be picked? I was starting to think of ways that I could stand out! I wanted to be on one of those juries. I uttered a sigh of relief when she told those who had a good excuse to approach the bench and it seemed like half the room got in line. After about an hour of waiting, those of us that were left were split into two groups. Myself and 30 others were then questioned by the attorneys. What was our names, what did we do for a living, what did our spouses do for a living... blah blah blah. Well, after another hour and a half of questioning they then picked the jury. And guess what? I wasn't chosen. REJECTED. Rejected from JURY DUTY. I couldn't believe it. I was just rejected from something that no one really wants. What is going on? This is not giving me much confidence about all the things I am applying for at the moment. But whatever. I did get my check in the mail today for $25 for that long morning of questioning. At least that's something!

I'm back! Long story short... himself and myself both lost our jobs and I decided to come back to the good 'ole States to re-coup and decide where to go next. (Any advice would be appreciated) There is nothing like moving back in with the 'rents for the 2nd time in a row in a span of two years. (can we say humbling?)
Anyways, feel like I have finally gotten my head around the situation and want to return to my favorite little corner of the interwebs. I have really missed you guys. Plus, I have some stories for ya... nothing like some good self-deprecating humor for everyone out there to start feeling better about themselves. I try to help out humanity where I can.

So Let's start with this little story. It's a goodie. Because I am trying to decide "what's the next step?" (again, any advice,monetary donations, job ideas, etc. GREATLY APPRECIATED) I decided I need something to do in the meantime. Well, temporary jobs seem like the place to start, right? ]Well, I'm not off to such a good start. You see, two days ago I got a call from an agency saying they had a job for me in Human Resources at a nice little place in town... wait for it...wait for it... at a CHICKEN PLANT. Well, I just heard the word J-O-B and can't stand another full week with NOTHING to do, so I said sure, I would go for the interview. So yesterday, I pull up to the SECURITY GUARD, at a CHICKEN PLANT and tell her I was there to see so and so for an interview. She looks at me, looks at her list, and tells me I am not on it. So, then I told her, she was right, I randomly came to a chicken plant for a fake interview just for shits and giggles. She then told me to leave the premises. I got KICKED OUT of a chicken plant? This is not what I thought life after a Masters degree would entail! So, I then leave the premises like a good little girl and call my guy at the temporary agency and proceed to tell them I was not let in to the interview. He said there had been a mix-up at the chicken plant.... something about them all running around with their heads cut-off.....(cluckety cluck cluck) And that they rescheduled for 8:30 the next morning. Right. So, I went back to the chicken plant today and had a 5 minute interview and I left feeling like I didn't get the job. I am pretty sure I just got rejected from a temporary job at a chicken plant. Pretty sure my life hit a new low! I had so many good chicken jokes too. oh well, maybe next time.

Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night

On November 5th, 1605 this 'Guy' decided to blow up Parliament because the monarchy was Protestant and Guy was a Catholic Restorationist (what more reason does one need?) Well, needless to say, his plan went haywire, he was found out, and eventually hanged. Sad Story, right? The English don't think so and find it a good reason to celebrate each year and set everything on fire! Since I hate to be left out, himself and I went to the biggest Bonfire Night in England, in Lewes, near Brighton. I was astounded at the length of celebrations. Firecrackers, huge bonfires, parades, processions, torches, costumes, and lots and lots of fire. It was a pyromaniacs dream and such a weird and fantastic night. Crazy Brits, how I love thee. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

When I saw this book at my local charity shop, I had to buy it as I remembered reading it in college and loving it. I loved it even more the second time around. This murder mystery/psychology graduates dream is written from the perspective of a 15 year old English boy with Asberger's Syndrome. The author Mark Haddon does a creative and effective job of giving the reader an 'insider's perspective' of this behavioural disorder. It was unlike any other book I have ever read and it made me go out and buy Mark Haddon's second novel 'A Spot of Bother' which I found just as psychologically fascinating and a tad deranged (just how I like 'em!). I think I might have found my favorite author. 5/5 !

Driving in the UK: An Update

So far this week I have successfully driven to and from work 4 times, drove home from Aldershot (town over 5 miles away) and drove to the 'petrol' station. All without any major problems and the car and myself are still in one piece. For the win!

The Giant's House

I just finished reading 'The Giant's House: A Romance' by Elizabeth McCracken. In this fiction novel, a soft spoken 25 year old librarian becomes intrigued with one of the visitors of the library- a 12 year old 7 foot tall student.. As the story progresses, so does the 12 year old's height! He continues to grow and becomes the world's tallest man. The librarian's interest quickly turns into a friendship. She frequently picks out books for him to read, visits him in his custom made cottage and they develop a strong bod. The boy becomes a young man and the librarian realises she is in love with him. She helps him 'fit' into a world where nothing is his size. This love story makes for a fascinating read and although really sad at times, I thoroughly enjoyed it. 4/5 stars.

That's cute. SOOOOO cute.

My sis and I have a fascination for hedgehogs. We love 'em. Because of this I decided to give her a hedgehog themed birthday gift (with hedgehog card, stuffed animal, and pencil set!) Since I will be in Cornwall this weekend, I wanted to give a birthday shout out to my sister, who is not only my sis, but my best friend. I am one lucky gal! Also, it is my BFF Margaret's birthday this weekend as well. Happy birthday you two! I wish I could be there with both of you to celebrate.

Driving in the UK (part 1)

Himself's mom (mum) bought me 5 driving lessons for my soon-to-birthday (Happy Birthday to MES!) The plan was to have the same driving instructor that Ian and his sister had- a middle age gentleman that was both calm and nice (Sounded great to me!) So I gave him a ring to arrange my first lesson, but he was fully booked until CHRISTMAS. (He must be good!) But, I didn't have time to wait, I am going to go look at my new wheels this weekend and will possibly have a car by next week, you see. So time is of the essence! So, I called another driving instructor and arranged for this past Monday. All seemed well.
Until... (dun dun dunnnn) Monday came along and I had a stressful day at work. I also was feeling feverish. And I couldn't breathe through my nose. I think I had a bug. or the flu. or a man cold. (poor little bunny)
I had arranged for the driving instructor (let's say her name was Pam) to pick me up from my job and we would have an hour lesson. So, at 5 o'clock sharp, I saw her pull up and went outside to meet her. She seemed nice enough, asked a few questions, looked at my license and gave me the keys. I immediately saw a key entry thingy on the dashboard and stuck the key in. Softly I heard 'Now where did you put the key?' I looked down to see that the key hole was an 'air bag on/off switch.' Feeling like a complete idiot I took the key out and put it in the ignition. This prompted further questions from Pam like 'Why would you put the key there' 'Your car key would never go there..' blah blah blah. Like, I didn't feel like a stupid blonde already.
I then let Pam know that I was not good with a clutch and had little experience as I had always owned an automatic. So, the obvious thing to do would be to put me in rush hour traffic with lots of hills, turns, and blind spots. Thanks, a lot Pam. Feeling quite stressed, hot, and ill, I tried to calm down and just drive. But, Pam kept asking questions, one after the next like 'What does that sign mean? Where should you be looking? What is wrong with your hand position? Why did you press the brake just now?' At one point, I looked at her and said 'I'M A BIT OVERWHELMED AT THE MOMENT.' I thought the first lesson was going to be an introduction. Maybe, 25 minutes in a parking lot while I got comfortable with a clutch and changing gears, and then 30 minutes in a nice, country road with no one else around. But, no. Pam seemed to have a 'total immersion' philosophy.
Luckily, nothing terrible happened. I think I stalled once. I almost ran Pam into a bush (karma) and I turned onto the wrong (right) side of the road on occasion as well as having left/right dyslexia (their backwards in my head!) During the middle of the lesson, Pam asked what kind of car I was getting, and I told her it was a clutch, and she said 'Now, do you really think that is the best idea?' Thanks again Pam, for your nice words of encouragement (Hello, that is why I am having lessons!) But, I am going to do it! I am going to learn how to drive a clutch in the UK. And next week Pam and I meet again for round two. Hopefully I will put the key in the right place this time!

Doubt

Last night himself and I watched Doubt. I had heard glowing reviews from my sister and had it on my list of movies to watch. It definitely didn't disappoint. This 2004 play by John Patrick Shanley was made into a movie in 2008. The plot centers around a Catholic Priest and 'doubts' about his moral character. Two nuns try to uncover the truth and this investigation leads to a different set of doubts and convictions. Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman both do an amazing performance and it is no wonder this movie is nominated for so many awards. The provacative dialogue along with the interchangeable themes of morality, faith, and authority makes for one helluva film. I would put it on your list of movies to watch!

new wheels

This little lady is getting some new wheels.. and nope, I am not talking about my mountain bike (not this time) but 4 wheels to be exact. That's right, a CAR. Next weekend himself and myself and his fam are driving down to Cornwall for a short vacay and to go get my CAR! (Pictures to follow) And, Monday I have my first UK driving lesson.
